In this Internet age it is good to see the children’s magazine, Highlights for Children, is still going strong. Reading Today reports that “on June 14, the one-billionth copy of Highlights rolled off the presses”. In addition, “the magazine also celebrated its 60th anniversary in June”.
The article also states that “Highlights currently reaches more than two million readers each month” and that “young readers send the editors more than 30,000 letters per year”.
Do you remember reading Highlights when you were growing up? It doesn’t really seemed to have changed that much since I started reading it in the mid 60’s. Do you remember…
- Goofus and Gallant
- The Bear Family
- The Timbertoes
- Jared to the Rescue
- Jokes and Riddles
- and my all time favorite, Hidden Pictures
The HighlightsKids.com Website includes an index to the magazine that goes back to 1986. What about you? Did you read Highlights? Tell us about it!
