My college age son texted me about a deal to make a lot of money with Google.   That started a good ‘text conversation’.   He had run across a ‘news’ article from ‘News 6 Boston’  that had an article about it.  The article was entitled, ‘Breaking News: Google Hiring Americans To Work From Home’.   Well, I must admit!  It DID LOOK good!   Had the ‘News 6 Boston’ logo and everything.

Wow!  I began to get excited.  Maybe it is possible.  I had heard of a lot of scams and had read some real horror stories and scary terms and conditions.  But THIS, this looked real.  Being the good ‘librarian’ that I am : ) I started searching for information on the Website.  First of all, I did a search on ‘News 6 Boston‘.   ONLY 8 results AND the first one was a ’sponsored’ one!  Not exactly what you’d expect from a metropolitan TV news station.

I went back to the article and examined the links and discovered all of them led to the same ‘income.opportunity’ page (even the ‘News’, ‘Weather’, ‘Finance’, ‘Sports’, etc.   There are a few ways to examine links without clicking away: 1) hover over them and look at the bottom of the browser to see what they are pointing to and 2) if the link doesn’t show up at the bottom ‘right click’ and ‘copy link location’ then paste them in Word.

Boy, it really burns me up when people try to scam others!   Be safe and alert out there!
